  The western wall

The Holy Temple in Jerusalem in the Land of Israel was twice destroyed. One wall remains standing as a living symbol of the Jewish people's ownership over the land of Israel and  Jerusalem old city-- the Kotel HaMaaravi or "The Western Wall."

The First Temple is also known as Solomon's Temple. It functioned as a religious central point for worship and sacrifices.

Solomon, who built the First Jerusalem Temple in  the 10th century BCE, said : "May Your eyes be open day and night toward this House, toward the place of which You have said, 'My name shall abide there;' may You heed the prayers which Your servant will offer toward this place. And when You hear the supplications which Your servant and Your people Israel offer toward this place, give heed in Your heavenly abode..." (1 Kings 8:17).

After construction of the Jerusalem Temple, religious ritual life of the
people of Israel was concentrated there. This  made Jerusalem a place of pilgrimage and an important spiritual, political and commercial center.

The city served as the capital of the united kingdom of Israel.  It was in
Jerusalem where most of the great prophets were writing, articulating
spiritual and ethical principles that would transcend the city's narrow confines to become pillars of the Jewish spirit. In 586 BCE Jerusalem was invaded by the Babylonians. At the order of Nebuchadnezzar Jerusalem was torched, the Jerusalem Temple was destroyed, and the people were taken into exile.

Ever since the Jerusalem western wall is the most sacred place of Judaism and the holiest place for all Jews both in Israel and worldwide  aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
